Hula Hoop Injury
I purchased a 5lb hula hoop for working out. I had read several reviews and workouts and decided to give it a shot. I loath exercise, as a rule, but enjoy activity. Hula hoop seems more like an activity. Some of the reviews said that it hurt at first, but you get used to it. That is an understatement. I thought they meant your muscles would be sore - wrong - you actually bruise from the weight of the hoop. Not only did my rib area feel bruised after I used for the recommended 1 minute the first time, but when it did fall and I tried to catch it I got a bruise on the back of my leg and I also have a very serious raised bruise on my forearm. This is why I don't exercise. The instructions say to do it 1-3 minutes twice a day the first week, up to 5 minutes the second week and only 10 minutes, twice a day after that. NEVER do it more than 20 minutes a day. That scares me a little. The reason I bought it was that most of the stuff I read said you could keep a weighted hoop up better and I have to say that is true. I'll give a few more days. I hope it doesn't land me in the hospital.
